BANDUNG – West Java Provincial Government facilitates the export of 25 ton of desiccated coconut with a value of 50.000 US dollars (US). The export is a positive signal for regional economy in the midst of challenges that rise due to COVID-19 pandemic.
The release of export commodities was carried out by Governor of West Java Ridwan Kamil at Gedung Sate, Tuesday (8/12/2020) who was accompanied by Secretary of Director General of Plantations of Ministry of Agriculture, Inter-Jatnika, Acting Assistant for Economy and Development of West Java Provincial Secretariat (Setda) Taufiq Budi Santoso, Head of West Java Regional Secretariat's Economic Bureau Benny Bachtiar, and Head of West Java Provincial Plantation Service Hendy Jatnika.

Meanwhile, grated coconut is a coconut processed product that is popular in global market. Nowadays, exporting products in processed form is a best option since they have longer shelf life, easy to pack and have added value.
Coconut itself is a plantation crop, about 93% of which are smallholder plantations. Coconut has economic, social, cultural value and a strategic role in increasing farmers' income, absorption of labor and a source of foreign exchange. All parts of coconut plant can be used as a source of food, functional food and shelter, as well as various other purposes so that coconut is called the tree of life.
