BANDUNG – In the midst of the decline in national economic situation due to Covid-19, the Financial Services Authority (OJK) assesses that the stability of the financial sector is still maintained even though it is quite dropped during the Implementation of the Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM). This can be seen from the JCI which is still stable, the amount of fund raising in the capital market is still high, as well as the increasing number of investors.
"In addition, bank lending is still quite high. Credit risk is still maintained below the Threshold, credit restructuring for Covid-19 has also decreased," said Deputy Commissioner for Financial System Stability OJK Agus Edy Siregar in a virtual talk show Econimic Update entitled Indonesia's Economic Awakening which was broadcast CNBC Indonesia, Tuesday 13 July 2021.
However, Agus stated that the banking world still has its own challenges to continue to survive and even grow positively during Covid-19 pandemic. The magnitude of these challenges depends on the success of the government's efforts to restore the health to banking adaptation efforts in the midst of uncertainty.
To deal with this, bank bjb has a number of strategies to keep its business growing. One of them is by focusing on digitalizing business through digital banking services.
President Director of bank bjb Yuddy Renaldi said the launch of various digital bank bjb platforms had begun in early 2020 right after the hit of Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, bank bjb continues to optimize these various digital services where the growth of the Number of Accounts (NoA) increases exponentially.
Yuddy explained, there were at least three digital bank bjb services that experienced growth during the pandemic. Bank bjb's mobile banking application, bjb Digi, managed to grow significantly in the period December 2020 - June 2021. During that time, bjb Digi's growth was recorded at 121.20%.
In addition, the growth of bank bjb's QRIS merchant NoA (bjb DigiCash) was quite high. In December 2020, the number of QRIS bank bjb merchants was 7.458 NoA. By mid-2021, that number had increased 20 times.
"Now it has reached 154.368 NoA. We are targeting to add up to 1 million NoA for QRIS. This also helps increase bank bjb's fee-based income from e-channel transactions," he said. The growth in the number of users was also recorded in the bjb LAKU service (MSME Credit Access Service), which allows MSME players to access credit online.
Yuddy said, the digitalization of bank bjb services with security guaranteed through the allocation of capex which reached Rp850 billion for IT and security development. One of them is by implementing an anti-fraud management system.
"So that the security and convenience of customers in conducting digital transactions with bank bjb can be guaranteed," he said.
Yuddy said, one of the important things to pay attention to in financing during pandemic is to pay attention to the growth in demand from the financing itself. In West Java and Banten, he said, the demand for consumer sector is still high.
"Bank bjb's loan growth year on year is in the commercial and corporate segment by 20.33%, MSMEs 18.05%, and the consumer segment which is the main backbone by 4.18%," he said.
"The demand for economic growth in West Java is still quite high. There is still growing demand, so that financing is carried out selectively," he continued. In addition, Yuddy said, other sectors that are still growing well until June 2021 include transportation, warehousing, communication, to food.
In addition, Yuddy said, bank bjb also has a high commitment to support the national economy recovery during Covid-19 pandemic and post-pandemic. This is reflected from the distribution of State Money Placement (PUN) funds which have been successfully distributed within two periods.
"PUN funds stored in the amount of Rp.2.5 trillion starting in August 2020 have been leveraged to become Rp. 5.3 trillion. In February 2021 we are again trusted with the same amount of funds. Until mid-2021 this has been leveraged to 4.3 trillion," said yudy.
